Children's Safe Passage

Children’s Safe Passage (CSP) was founded in 2010 in the aftermath of the heartbreaking abduction and murder of seven-year old Somer Thompson at the hands of a sexual predator the year before.

Since then, the goal of CSP has been to actively seek out solutions to prevent violence and sexual exploitation against children in the Northeast Florida community.

In 2010, CSP began working closely with the Monique Burr Foundation for Children (MBF).  Its core program, Child Safety Matters, makes a difference in northeast Florida and across the state.  MBF Child Safety Matters is a research–based, primary prevention education program for all Florida elementary schools, developed to educate and empower elementary students, school personnel and adults with information and techniques and strategies to prevent bullying, cyberbullying, digital abuse, and all forms of child abuse.  Learn more at www.moniqueburrfoundation.org.

Two years later, CSP was introduced to the Stewards of Children, child sexual abuse prevention program, developed by Darkness to Light, a national nonprofit headquartered in Charleston, SC whose mission is to empower adults to prevent child sexual abuse.  It is the only nationally distributed, evidenced-informed program of its kind.  Learn more at www.d2l.org. In 2014, CSP collaborated with the First Coast YMCA organization to form the Northeast Florida Stewards of Children Coalition. The Stewards of Children training is available through participating organizations, requires only 2 hours of time and costs only $10 per person for education materials. Learn more at www.csacp.org.

Throughout its existence, CSP has also focused on fundraising for the prevention of violence against children.  Annual charity golf tournaments through 2016 have raised more than $140,000 in funds for this cause. 2017's charity golf tournament will be held on October 30, 2017 at World Golf Village. This charity golf tournament is the funding partner of the Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Coalition.
